Residential Services

The Human Development Center, Inc.  (HDC)  has over 39 years providing  a continuum of services to adult individuals diagnosed  with developmental disabilities, autism and challenging behaviors. HDC  provides community based residential group home services in a variety of settings,  including three group homes in Seffner, three in Tampa, and various supported living homes throughout Hillsborough County.

HDC offers three levels of residential supervision.

Most clients begin their treatment at one of our three community based residential group homes in Seffner. These homes have 24-hour supervision and serve an average 18 individuals. Once a client has demonstrated the ability to manage his behavior more effectively, he has the opportunity to move to another community based group home in Tampa.

These homes also maintain 24-hour supervision, but allow each person to fade these supports.

In addition to these group homes, we also provide  support to individuals who rent their own homes, this is known as supported living services. In most cases, clients progresses from one of the community based group homes to supported l where  supports are provided in the client’s own apartment or home. At this stage,  clients also have the option of selecting a roommate to share expenses or,  if they prefer, they may live alone. Supported Living services are provided on an as-needed basis according to their individual needs.
